“Uzbekistan, and the entire region of Central Asia, can be a very interesting focus point for British business” – says Ulf Schneider, Managing Partner of SCHNEIDER GROUP, when giving an interview on 18 September, 2018 at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in London. Mr Schneider was speaking at the opening of our new office in Uzbekistan.
In his interview, Mr. Schneider explains what makes Uzbekistan an attractive country for foreign investments, and why SCHNEIDER GROUP has decided to open a new office there. “For me, Uzbekistan is a new market, but it is a very fascinating market. I feel excited about it.”
SCHNEIDER GROUP’s main priorities in Uzbekistan are to “encourage the localisation of Western textile production” and also to “attract Western investment in the local pharmaceutical industry”, said Mr Schneider during his presentation to more than 50 guests at the central London event.
Also speaking at the event, the Uzbek Ambassador to the UK, Dr Alisher Shaykhov, highlighted the tremendous changes apace in Uzbekistan’s investment climate and introduced the audience to the Qashqadaryo Region of Uzbekistan via video link. From the regional capital Qarshi, the head of administration Oybek Shazagatov and his team provided an overview of the region’s investment opportunities.
With the official proceedings of the event over, the guests – among them members of the British-Uzbek Society, the BBC Uzbek Service, private investors and representatives of corporations – enjoyed the traditional Uzbek rice-based dish, plov.
