Legislative amendments regarding names of legal entities in the Republic of Kazakhstan

As of 3 November 2023, it has become possible to correct an erroneous name of a legal entity, branch or representative office online. The procedure is quite quick and does not require special efforts. The Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan has approved the Rules of rendering the state service "Correction of names of legal entities, branches, and representative offices".

If a mistake is made in the name of a legal entity, branch or representative office, it can be corrected  by making changes to the State Database of Legal Entities on the basis of an application.

This service is provided by different state bodies for commercial and non-commercial organizations. Thus, the Ministry of Justice and its territorial subdivisions carry out adjustments for non-commercial organizations: public and religious associations, foundations, political parties, etc.  For commercial organisations, this service is provided by branches of the State Corporation "Government for Citizens".

It is quite easy to obtain the service. It requires either submitting an application with supporting documents in person at the CCS ("Center of Public Services") or online via e-government web portal. The supporting documents may be constituent documents of a legal entity, branch, or representative office, or a decision of the authorized body of a legal entity. They are the basis for the correction.

The service is provided free of charge within one working day following the day of submission of an application with the required documents attached.

Previously, the adjustment service was not provided separately: the application was submitted as a request; the term of processing was 15 working days.
