Agriculture and food production

Agriculture and food production are substantial components of CIS economies, most notably in Ukraine and Belarus where it comprises more than 25% of total industrial production and more than 20% of GDP. Despite this, the agricultural sector performs below its potential in these countries as a result of the legislative environment, bureaucracy, and a lack of investment and modern equipment. Nonetheless, the agricultural sectors in these countries are among the most promising worldwide with increasing production and attractiveness for foreign investment. Changing consumer preferences and sanctions have further altered the landscape, opening more opportunities for companies willing to invest.
